“Full circle moment” teased by Honda ahead of final 1,000cc Japanese MotoGP

Honda has taken to social media to tease what could be a new one-off MotoGP livery at next month’s Japanese Grand Prix. 

The tease was made as part of Honda’s The Dream. The Challenge series which was unveiled back in June, and based on the wording that’s been used, we don’t expect it to be a reveal of next year’s 850cc machine.

It would also be very early for Honda to make such a reveal, as teams and manufacturers are likely to wait until after the 2026 season before unveiling their new-era prototypes. 

While details are very thin on the ground at this stage, the tease clearly shows an RC213V shaped like the 1,000cc 2026 bike. 

The Dream. The Challenge series was introduced as a celebration of Honda’s history in Grand Prix racing, which dates back to 1959.

At the time of the series being launched, Honda said it would feature a collection of films, digital content, and planned live events throughout the year.

However, the series is not entirely used as a means for looking back at the achievements and challenges Honda has faced, as it also points to the future.

Speaking of Honda’s future in Grand Prix racing, as is the case for its fellow MotoGP competitors Ducati, Aprilia, KTM and Yamaha, it is one that’s very much centred around the upcoming transition to 850cc machinery.

This is without doubt the biggest change that’s set to come into force in MotoGP next year, although several other factors can’t be overlooked.

Pirelli rubber will replace Michelins as the sole tyre provider, while restrictions on the use of aerodynamics, a ban on all ride-height devices, and 100 per cent sustainable fuel are some of the other major changes set to take place.

Honda’s upcoming The Dream. The Challenge episode is expected to drop on October 1, one day ahead of the Japanese MotoGP at Motegi, where we will find out more about what the “full circle moment” really means.
