Set-up in collaboration with local Thai firm OEM GPX, the new facility will naturally serve the home market, but also ship units out to Southeast Asia.
The plan is for Enfield to ship out units in ‘completely knocked down’ form, to be assembled at the facility and shipped onwards.

For now, it appears that the Thai facility will be assembling Himalayan and Interceptor & Continental GT 650 models, no doubt continuing to the Meteor 350 & newly revealed Classic 350 model.
Speaking on the new facility, executive director B Govindarajan said, via RideApart:
“Royal Enfield has been working extensively to grow and expand the middleweight motorcycling segment globally,
“With a strategic view to grow the business and cater to increasing demand, we have been pursuing our plans to set up local assembly units in priority markets beginning with Argentina in 2020 and then Colombia earlier this year,
"Continuing this journey and marking a first for us in the Asia-Pacific region, we are very happy to announce the commencement of operations at the CKD assembly plant in Thailand.
A testament to our commitment to the region and the market potential, and to our growing community of riding enthusiasts, this facility will enable us to efficiently cater to the growing demand in this region, and also become the hub for the rest of Southeast Asian markets,”
Exciting times are ahead for Royal Enfield, who continues its model offensive in 2022 - starting with the new Classic 350.
We didn’t get to see any hint of the Himalayan 650 at EICMA, which is a shame, but it appears that’s on the cards and in development as we speak.
