Honda SH Mode 125 gains first major update since 2024
Honda has introduced a series of changes to its SH Mode 125 scooter for 2027, including two new colours, and a 4.2-inch TFT display.
After celebrating the 25th anniversary of the SH125i earlier this summer, Honda has now revealed a new SH Mode 125 for the first time in three years.
The 2027 model gains two new colourways; Pearl Nostalgic Green and Vanilla White, to go alongside the existing Candy Luster Red and Matt Galaxy Black Metallic.
As well as the suite of new colours, the SH mode 125 also features an updated 4.2-inch TFT display and a redesigned front fascia, which adds a dynamic mass forward approach to the new model.
The SH Mode 125 also benefits from a revised muffler protective cover, although the 765mm seat height and other specs remain unchanged.
Additionally, the glovebox on the left now houses a USB Type-C socket for charging your smartphone. Under the seat is an 18.5-litre storage compartment that includes luggage hooks for load security.
The biggest change is the above-mentioned full-colour 4.2-inch TFT display which replaces the traditional analogue system. The update has resulted in a new fuel gauge and clock being added.
With no mechanical changes taking place, the 2027 SH Mode 125 continues to be powered by its Smart Power Plus (eSP+) four-valve water-cooled SOHC engine that produces a claimed 11.6 bhp at 8,500rpm and 8.8 Ib-ft of torque at 5,000rpm.
The lightweight scooter features 31mm telescopic forks with 89mm of travel, while the rear suspension offers five-stage adjustable spring preload and 75mm travel. The 16-inch cast-aluminium front wheel mounts are paired with a 14-inch rear wheel.
Braking is handled by Nissin via a 220mm hydraulic disc that’s mated to a single-piston caliper up front, while the rear features a 130mm disc and drum caliper via CBS.
On sale since 2014 in Europe, the SH Mode 125 has become a very popular model with daily commuters. Over 152,000 units of the 125cc scooter have been sold in Europe over the past 12 years.
The SM Mode 125 gained more performance and practicality as part of a major update in 2021, before receiving a light refresh again in 2024. Pricing for the 2027 model has not yet been confirmed.
