GoPro's long-awaited Max 2 360-degree action camera will be launched soon, with the company revealing teaser images on its social media platforms.

In the teaser images the camera is attached to a skydiver’s helmet, while the person in the picture can also be seen holding the camera.

For us on two wheels, the new camera from GoPro is both an exciting prospect, but one where expectations will be high given the current options on the market.

The Max 2 is set to arrive as a direct competitor to the Insta360 X5, which also comes in a special BMW Motorrad edition. Recent leaks have also showcased the new DJI Osmo 360, which is also expected to be a contender when it comes to the best action cameras currently on the market.

The successor to the original GoPro Max will likely need to feature resolution figures of around 8K at 30fps to contend with the Insta360 X5. However, hardware and specs have been tightly kept under wraps for now.

Based on the images the camera’s body does feature a finned heat guard on the front to help it avoid overheating. The Max 2's lens also appears to be more central than its predecessor.

Despite the infusion of more action cameras from different brands in recent years, GoPro remains the most recognizable brand, especially for those on two wheels that like to produce video content on social media.

The GoPro Max 2 has been in development since 2023 and was expected to be unveiled towards the end of 2024, before delays occurred.
