WATCH: Track day at Snetterton with Jason O’Halloran & Yamaha Track Experience

If you’re eyeing up what you can do this summer in the UK, a track day could be just what the doctor ordered. By doctor I mean Valentino Rossi.

TRACK DAYS are nothing new in the UK, in fact ever since two wheels have been on the road, two wheels have been flying around properties all in the name of adrenaline-soaked fun.

That’s exactly how Cadwell Park started, don’t you know, where back in 1934 the lads of the manor would race their bikes around against each other before they added concrete & tarmac and called it an official circuit.

Anyway, we were lucky enough to be invited over to Snetterton for a track day with Yamaha Track Experience, something that I jumped at seeing as it would be my first time on track - and Snet is my local!

As part of the day, BSB McAMS Yamaha rider Jason O’Halloran would be making an appearance, cruising around the track to tail us and give a few valuable tips on how to get around that bit faster. Had a chat with him too, lovely fella - read our interview here.

I have to add as well, this was all done before Jason stormed through the first 3 rounds of the 2021 BSB season, taking home 1st place in each race. What a cracking start - I’d like to think my words had some effect…

Seeing as it was my first track day, I wanted to start on the now track-special Yamaha R6, but there was also a brief appearance for the Niken after the lunch break, when the heavens opened and I fancied that extra bit of grip and comfort that only a Niken can provide. Happy to report I found it to be an absolute weapon, who’d have thought!

There’s of course the obligatory R1 & MT-09 SP on offer too, but I decided to save those for another day.

Interested in a track day with Yamaha Track Experience?

It’s a genuinely brilliant day, you’re a VIP rider and literally have everything sorted for you whilst you just focus on staying warm with a fresh coffee from their machine. It’s a rare chance to dip your toe in without committing to a dedicated track bike - and all the hassle that comes with it.

Can’t recommend it enough. Makes a great present, too.
