GasGas reveals major racing changes for 2026
GasGas says financial reasons are behind its surprise decision to no longer race a factory team in the World Trial Championship.

KTM’s ongoing restructuring has bitten GasGas hard heading into 2026, with the Spanish company reducing its involvement in trial racing.
GasGas says it will drop its factory team efforts from both the World and Spanish Trial Championships in 2026. However, GasGas bikes will still be raced as part of its collaboration and technical support with privateer teams.
While it’s not a total shock that KTM’s ongoing recovery from the major financial wobbles of the last year-or-so are still being felt today, GasGas removing its factory team from the two championships mentioned is a big deal.
GasGas is one of the most recognisable off-road and trial racing brands worldwide, so to do away with a full factory team, clearly shows that a lot more help is still needed for its parent company.

In a press release GasGas revealed the exact reasons as to why this change is happening, citing the need to “concentrate financial and human resources on core business priorities”.
Although the lack of factory team involvement is a big setback for GasGas, it says the decision will only affect the racing program. That means its commercial activity, both in trial and other off-road disciplines, continues as it was.
Fabian Simmer, Managing Director of GasGas and sales VP for Europe at the KTM Group, said this about the change to its race program:
“This has not been an easy decision. We have invested significant resources and a great deal of human effort in building a competitive team with an exceptional group of people. However, given the current evolution of the World Championship and the Spanish Championship in their top categories, as well as the slowdown in global sales of trial motorcycles, maintaining a factory team is no longer a financially sustainable option. Even so, at KTM Group we continue to firmly believe in the potential of GasGas and the trial discipline, albeit with a different approach to factory racing.”
