Watched on by Christelle Luisier Brodard, President of the Council of State of Vaud, the FIM Board of Directors, invited dignitaries, and the 2025 FIM World Champions, the ribbon officially dropped on the Racing Motorcycle Museum (RMM), a new home dedicated to the global history of motorcycle sport.

Located in the former FIM Headquarters in Mies, Switzerland, the RMM is billed as a permanent exhibition charting racing’s evolution from its earliest prototypes to today’s hyper-technical Grand Prix machinery.

The launch opened with remarks from Luisier Brodard; Pierre-Alain Schmidt, Mayor of Mies; Fabio Muner, FIM Marketing and Digital Director; Silvia Dainese of Gris+Dainese Architetti; and FIM President Jorge Viegas.

Once the ribbon was cut, Viegas and Muner called four icons to the stage as the first inductees to the new FIM Hall of Fame: 15-time World Champion Giacomo Agostini; four-time MX World Champion Harry Everts; Trial and circuit-racing legend Sammy Miller; and Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP promoter Dorna. Each was presented with a watch and had their handprints taken for a chequered-flag installation in the museum’s garden.

Alongside interactive exhibits, the RMM houses a collection of race-winners from every corner of competition. The 2025 line-up of Ultimate Champions is represented, including bikes ridden by MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez, WorldSBK Champion Toprak Razgatlioglu, TrialGP’s Toni Bou, Rally-Raid front-runner Daniel Sanders, EnduroGP leader Josep Garcia, Speedway GP title-holder Bartosz Zmarzlik and MXGP Champion Romain Febvre.

The historic machinery reaches further back, covering landmark moments from almost every discipline. Highlights include the AJS Porcupine that Leslie Graham rode to the inaugural 1949 Grand Prix title; Mike Hailwood’s howling six-cylinder Honda RC166 of 1967; Valentino Rossi’s 2004 Yamaha YZR-M1; Jonathan Rea’s dominant 2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R; Marc Marquez’s 2018 Honda RC213V; Stefan Everts’ 2006 Yamaha YZ450F; Jordi Tarres’ prototype 1989 Beta Zero; Francesco Cecchini’s 2019 Zaeta DT450RS; Hubert Auriol’s 1981 Dakar-winning BMW R80 G/S; Andrea Verona’s 2024 GASGAS EC350F; plus the Yamaha YZF-R7 raced to victory by Team Europe at the inaugural FIM Intercontinental Games.

The ceremony closed with a group photo of the 2025 World Champions outside the new building, ahead of the FIM Awards Ceremony in Ecublens/Lausanne.

Speaking at the inauguration, Christelle Luisier Brodard commented that the museum “strengthens our Canton as a global hub for sport and culture” and creates an environment for visitors “to learn, be inspired and explore the evolution of the sport.”

FIM President Jorge Viegas described the RMM as “a permanent home” for racing heritage, representing unmatched historical and educational value for future generations.

Mies Mayor Pierre-Alain Schmidt hailed the museum as “an invaluable asset for our municipality and for the entire region,” calling the facility a unique landmark that reflects global enthusiasm for motorcycling and the industry’s contribution to rider safety.

Fabio Muner, concluding the ceremony, emphasised that the aim was “far more than just a display of famous motorcycles,” positioning the RMM as an educational journey through racing, technology, and governing protocols. He thanked regional authorities and partners for bringing the project to life.
