2027 MotoGP pre-season test scheduled confirmed

MotoGP has released the official dates for pre-season testing in 2027, which includes changes to how many days riders will have on the 850cc bikes.

The new 850cc/Pirelli era is highly-anticipated by many, but for teams and riders, the very first pre-season could be crucial to gaining a competitive advantage over other manufacturers.

Track time will be at a premium as brands look to iron out potential issues that might arise. It will also serve as an opportunity for riders to gain a feel for their new bikes, although they will be doing so with fewer days available.

After the 2026 season concludes in Valencia, a one-day test will follow at the same venue, which is standard procedure when it comes to MotoGP’s end-of-year test schedule in Spain.

However, the Shakedown test in Sepang will be reduced by one day, as will the official Sepang MotoGP test.

That means rookies will miss out on two full days of testing compared to years gone by, while the established field will also have one day less of pre-season testing.

The two tests will also take place directly after each other, which is another change compared to previous years.

The Shakedown test will take place on January 29-30, with the official two-day test following from January 31 to February 1.

The last change concerns the final pre-season test in Buriram, which will take place much sooner than before. 

Instead of taking place in the run-up to the season-opener at the Chang International Circuit, it will now go ahead one month earlier on February 6-7. 

MotoGP manufacturers are thought to have requested an earlier final test date in order to allow more time for modifications to be made ahead of the opening race. Engine homologation and the initial aero packages will also be frozen at round one.
