DigGia swapped his Desmosedici for a classier ride around Hollywood
Pertamina Enduro VR46 rider, Fabio Di Giannantonio, took to the streets of LA recently, although his riding and lack of riding gear are being called into question.

MotoGP star Fabio Di Giannantonio has hit the headlines this month, after heading out into Hollywood traffic on a beautiful Ducati 996. And while the video showing him riding in the sprawling metroplex is entertaining to watch, some spectators are calling DiGia out for the skit.
The video shows the VR46 rider heading off, accompanied by James Kirkham, Co-Founder of the automotive creative agency Race Service. The premise is simple enough: ride with DiGia so he can deliver his Shoei X-SPR Pro helmet to the renowned tattoo artist, Dr Woo. While on the ride, RS have a film crew capturing content of DiGia, which is obviously trying to gain a foothold in the two-wheeled industry.

And for the most part, it’s worked. They got a top-class MotoGP racer, who competes for the team owned by Valentino Rossi, and captured video and pictures of him razzing an iconic Ducati from the past through one of the most famous cities in the world.

But not everyone is happy, and we can kind of see why. Fair enough, if you’re popping out to grab some milk or double check that job you just completed is working correctly, you might not want to get fully kitted out in your trackday leathers. That’s fine, but the video shows DiGia riding around in jeans and sweat top, with ankles fully on display and with no gloves on.

But it’s not just his choice of riding kit (or lack of) that some are calling him out for. There is also some questionable riding going on. Wheelies on the public road are fine, but there’s a time and a place. I’m not sure downtown Hollywood is that place. He can also be seen hopping off the road and riding along the pavement, admittedly not at great speed, although you can see him riding past people’s front doors and gates, which is a little bit dodgy. The roads could be closed, of course, although that would normally be highlighted had it been the case.
The end of the video sees his plain white Shoei get delivered to Dr Woo (not sure he’s an actual doctor, mind), who grabs a pen and does some scribbles on it. Presumably, that is in lieu of him actually creating a proper design on it.
Whatever you think of the VR46’s skit with RS, it’s good to see that he’s trying to create some MotoGP hype in America. With Liberty Media’s acquisition of MotoGP in it’s final stages of sign off, the series new owners will likely be looking to enlarge its foot print in the USA.
