This CB1000F Bol D’Or 2 turns the retro dial up to eleven!
The dust has barely settled on the launch of the new Honda CB1000F, and already it’s been taken one step further, with this custom Bol D’Or 2 special edition.

Honda made big pre-EICMA waves in October, with the launch of its retro styled CB1000F, a bike that seems to have been on the horizon for years!
And no sooner has it landed than custom shops began to make merry with Honda’s latest big-bore modern retro. One of the most eye-catching bikes to come from that flurry of activity is this offering from Proto, an extremely evocative-looking yet faithful recreation in the style of Honda’s much-loved CB750F.

But this isn’t just a set of custom panels and fairings plonked on top of Honda’s new thou’, Proto has truly gone to town on the project, from a stylistic and technical point of view.

Starting with the most obvious update, the bodywork. It’s common to see custom houses calling on aftermarket panels or custom-built and 3D-printed items. Proto went a different route, though. For this bike, the history of it was as important as the overall look, and for that, only original panels taken from an original CB750FC ‘Integra’ would do.

Grafted to the fairing is the full LED light of the modern CB, meaning old-school looks, with modern-day performance. The result is a side profile that is as close to the CB750F of old as you can get, and a nice nod to some genuine authenticity. Further nods to the OG CB come in the firm of the frame shrouds/leg shields that extend down from the rear of the fuel tank and down towards the footpeg.

Aesthetic updates aside, Proto went to town on the chassis spec of the bike, adding top-spec Brembo 484 Cafe Racer calipers, which are mated to Brembo T-Drive discs and yards of premium braided lines. Topping off the retro appeal is an oval Akrapovic pipe and that oh-so-retro red and white with white pinstripes paint scheme.

Pricing and availability for the bike are unknown at this time, although Proto is asking interested parties to vote on whether it should be offered as a kit or a complete bike.
