Adventure motorcycles top the 2025 UK sales charts

After delving through the numbers, it turns out adventure motorcycles have become the most popular type of bike in the UK this year.

Adventure bikes have become the most popular type of motorcycle in the UK so far this year, which is based on stats from the beginning of the year until the end of November.

We have also included a list of some of the most popular bikes, which has been determined by the amount of units sold whilst ranking at the top of their individual category on a monthly basis.

It’s a list that’s been heavily dominated by one company in particular, as Honda ranks at the top of three of the four categories we’ve decided to highlight. However, when it comes to adventure bikes, BMW has been the dominant force.

And while we await December’s motorcycle sales numbers, it’s unlikely the adventure motorcycle segment will be caught. Data from the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) showed that as of November 30, a total of 18,904 adventure bikes had been sold in the UK this year, compared to 17,590 naked motorcycles.

Both figures are down compared to the same time period in 2024 (start of last year until November 30). However, the naked segment held the advantage on that occasion with 21,416 units sold, as opposed to 21,109 adventure bikes.

As I mentioned above, BMW has been a big reason why adventure sales figures have taken over top spot, with its R1300 GS Adventure being the best-selling model in seven out of 11 months, thus far in 2025. In those seven months a total of 1,237 units were sold. That total does not include the other five months where it did not rank as the best-selling model.

In terms of the naked sector, Honda has been at the top of the monthly sales charts for the entire year. The company’s entry-level CB125F, together with the acclaimed CB1000 Hornet, has proven to be one of the two most popular models in 2025.

The CB125F has been the best-seller in four out of 11 months so far in 2025, with a total of 493 units sold during those four months. On the other hand, the CB1000 Hornet, which clinched bike of the year in our 2025 Visordown awards, also took top spot on four separate occasions.

Next up is the modern classic segment, which has proved to be very popular in the UK throughout 2025. Leading the way has been Honda’s GB350S, which held top spot as the best-selling model from January until July. In those seven months it sold a total of 1,122 units. It has not been back at the top of the best-selling leaderboard since July, as Triumph’s Speed 400 and the new BSA Bantam 350 have provided stiff competition since August.

Then we have the touring category, which has been largely dominated by two models in particular. The Honda NT1100 and BMW’s R1300 RT have been the standout models, with the former topping the sales charts on six occasions, compared to the R1300 RT’s five.
