Furygan Furygan FIT-R2 Gloves review

Furygan FIT-R2 Gloves

After three months of thorough testing, Visordown reveals their thoughts about the Furygan FIT-R2 gloves

If you’re looking for a reasonably priced, great fitting, track-focused pair of gloves, then the Furygan Fit-R2 is the perfect option.
Thick high-quality leather
Tad sweaty in extreme conditions

With a Donnington track day looming, I needed a sturdy yet stylish replacement set of gloves for my used and abused BKS Evo’s. The Furygan CE approved FIT-R2’s fitted the bill perfectly, and after three months, I couldn't be happier with them.

Construction and features

The Fit-R2’s (the second iteration of the FIT-R) were designed in collaboration with French Moto GP star Johann Zarco, which is probably why they look so racey. Because of this partnership, the glove is packed with features that are ideal for not only the race track but also the road.

These features include:

  • A goat leather palm construction which slides better than normal leather, and protects the delicate scaphoid bone from fracture

  • Accordion leather over the thumb and outer wrist to help with flexibility (reaching buttons)

  • Stretch fabric between fingers for a natural and ergonomic fit

  • A leather bridge between ring and little finger to avoid the pinky getting fractured

  • Aramid fibre reinforced seams for extra strength

  • Large polymer shield over the wrist

  • And polymer protection over the knuckles and fingers

Who knew you could fit so much onto a glove?! And I haven't even mentioned the straps yet.. so many straps. Straps that cover straps for extra strappage. Joking aside, the two large straps over the lower forearm area provide more than enough adjustability and plant the Fit R2 firmly on your hand, but the little strap below your wrist really makes the glove feel like a second skin.

The high quality of the leather used in the construction of the gloves is clearly evident, and after months of constantly using/abusing these gloves, they’ve held up admirably well. Yes, some of the finer aesthetic stitching looks a little worn, but structurally the critical stitching remains firmly intact. And if I were to take a tumble, I could confidently say these are the gloves I would do it in (as weird as that sounds).

Comfort and practicality

Placing your hands into the glove is a satisfying escapade, and with all the adjustability/ ergonomic flexibility of the Fit-R2 gloves it’s no surprise that the comfort level is deluxe.

Honda CBR1000RR FIREBLADE SP 2019 Review

As is the norm with all leather gloves, in extreme heat your hands do get a little sweaty - especially if stuck in slow-moving traffic. However, I’ve used these gloves on the track as well as the busy streets, and they work well for both applications as none of the polymer reinforcements dig into your hand or forearm (unlike so many other race styled gloves). This allows you to focus and enjoy the ride.

Also, as the Fit-R2’s leather is quite thick, you could get away with wearing this glove into the early autumn, no problamo.

Verdict

Stylish, practical, comfortable and designed in partnership with a Moto GP superstar, I'm sold. Plus they match my Furygan Sherman two-piece leathers beautifully.

If you’re looking for a reasonably priced, great fitting, track-focused pair of gloves, then the Furygan Fit-R2 is the perfect option.
