Zero Lompico Concept revealed
With fast charging, lightweight performance and a new rider-focused operating system, Zero says the Lompico Concept is the start of “a new era” for the electric motorcycle brand.

Electric motorcycle firm Zero Motorcycles has unveiled the new Lompico Concept, giving us an early look at the tech, software and design direction that will shape the brand’s next generation of bikes.
And while the bike itself looks like a compact urban naked sitting somewhere between a 400cc and 500cc machine in terms of size and performance, the bigger story here is what’s going on underneath the bodywork.

At the heart of the Lompico is Zero’s new Cypher 4 operating system, which the American brand says is designed to bring smarter connectivity, predictive diagnostics and deeper customisation to its future bikes. Riders will be able to monitor charging, tweak riding modes and manage bike data through a redesigned onboard display and the obligatory companion app.

The concept uses an 8.8kWh battery paired with a claimed 30kW (around 40bhp) motor, putting it firmly into A2-friendly middleweight territory. Zero also says the bike can be configured to charge from 0-80 per cent in under an hour, which remains one of the biggest battlegrounds for electric motorcycles trying to win over lifelong petrol-bike riders.

Visually, the Lompico feels like a shift away from the more utilitarian styling Zero has traditionally leaned on. The angular bodywork, floating tail section and aggressive LED lighting signature make it look far more like a futuristic concept bike than some of the company’s previous production models – which for the most part have echoed the styling and design of rival petrol-powered bikes.
According to Zero CEO Pierre-Martin Bos, the bike is intended to “push the envelope on innovation” while encouraging riders to rethink what an electric motorcycle can be.
Zero CEO Pierre-Martin Bos
“Lompico is our invitation to rethink what an electric motorcycle can be. By provoking conversation and pushing boundaries, we’re not just launching a new product—we’re pushing the envelope on innovation.”
Importantly, though, Zero is also pitching the Lompico as part of its wider “All-Access” initiative, essentially a move towards smaller, more affordable electric motorcycles rather than only focusing on the tougher-to-sell premium flagship models. That could be the most significant part of the announcement, especially as the electric motorcycle sector continues to struggle with high prices and limited mainstream uptake.

The timing is interesting, too. Zero has spent the last few years pushing deeper into software-led ownership features and connected-bike tech, something that hasn’t always gone down brilliantly with riders. Previous subscription-style unlock systems generated heavy criticism online, with some owners unhappy about features being hidden behind paywalls.
So while the Lompico is technically “just” a concept, it feels more like Zero trying to reset the conversation around what its future bikes will be – lighter, more connected, faster charging and, crucially for the sector as a whole, potentially more affordable.
Whether riders are fully ready to embrace that future is another question entirely.
