Triumph Motorcycles has officially launched the new Scrambler 400 XC into its global range, adding a third option to its 400cc Modern Classics line-up.

The Scrambler 400 XC joins the Scrambler 400 X, but arrives with a sharper off-road focus and several updates designed to enhance its adventure-ready capabilities, while still retaining that unmistakable Triumph scrambler DNA.

The XC model sets itself apart from the existing bike with new side-laced spoked wheels and lightweight aluminium rims wrapped in tubeless Metzeler Karoo Street tyres. A 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup gives the XC a proper Scrambler stance and is said to boost the bike’s off-road prowess.

To go with the uprated wheels, the XC adds a high-level front mudguard and flyscreen, as well as handguards, engine bars and a solid aluminium sump guard. The bike now visually looks like a machine aimed at riders who are keen to tackle tougher trails.

Three colour options will be available at launch: Racing Yellow, Storm Grey, and Vanilla White. All come with black tank infills, Triumph graphics, and a two-piece seat for pillion practicality.

Under the skin, the Scrambler 400 XC is fitted with 43mm Showa USD forks and a rear monoshock with piggyback reservoir, with both ends offering 150mm of travel. Traction control is switchable, and there’s a dedicated off-road ABS mode, which turns off the ABS to the rear wheel.

The 400 XC runs Triumph’s 398cc TR-series engine, which puts out 39bhp at 8,000rpm and 27lb-ft of torque at 6,500rpm. Like the existing 400s, a ride-by-wire throttle and Bosch engine management aim to deliver predictable power delivery, while a six-speed gearbox and torque-assist clutch keep things smooth at the lever and when downshifting.

Tech-wise, you get a clean dual-format dash (analogue speedo and integrated LCD), USB-C charging, and Triumph’s signature DRL headlight.

Though designed in the UK, the Scrambler 400 XC first landed in India earlier this year (as reported on first by Visordown), and strong demand there has clearly paved the way for its global launch. Speaking about the new model, Triumph’s Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Stroud, said:

“The Triumph Scrambler 400 XC has been a huge hit with customers in India, and there is clear demand for this model across the rest of the world too. With improved off-road capability and Scrambler attitude, plus three new, stylish colour schemes, we hope this model will appeal to even more riders.”

The new model brings with it Triumph’s signature design cues, from the sculpted tank with knee indents to the upswept silencer, and neatly hidden liquid cooling. The black powder-coated engine casings, machined cooling fins, and anodised gold forks finish off the look perfectly.

Triumph is backing the Scrambler 400 XC with 10,000-mile service intervals, a two-year unlimited mileage warranty, and more than 20 official accessories covering everything from luggage to security.

The bike will hit dealerships from September 2025, and Triumph's online configurator is already up and running for those who want to tailor their XC to taste. The new bike starts from £6,545 OTR.
