Tommy Bridewell departs Honda after near-title-winning BSB season

After two seasons, four wins and a title fight that went down to the wire, Tommy Bridewell and Honda Racing have officially called time on their partnership in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

Tommy Bridewell and Honda Racing have officially gone their separate ways after two seasons together in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship (BSB).

Bridewell joined the Louth-based Honda Racing team in 2024 as the reigning British Superbike Champion, stepping aboard the then brand-new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP. The partnership clicked almost immediately, with Bridewell and the Fireblade regularly featuring at the sharp end of the field. By the end of that debut season, the Wiltshire rider had collected no fewer than 19 podiums — including three race wins — and pushed title rival Kyle Ryde all the way to the very last lap of the final race of the season.

It wasn’t quite the fairytale ending, with Bridewell narrowly missing out on back-to-back titles by just a single point, but the message was clear: the Fireblade and Bridewell were a serious force to be reckoned with.

His second year with Honda was tougher, but there were still flashes of brilliance. A hard-fought victory at Honda Racing's UK home circuit, Cadwell Park, was a highlight of 2025, backed up by five more podium finishes that ultimately saw him finish the year fifth in the standings.

In total, Bridewell’s time with Honda yielded four race wins, 13 second-place finishes, and eight third-place results.

Reflecting on his departure, Bridewell said:

“I want to thank Honda and all of the team for the last two seasons together. To have taken Honda back to the front in BSB has been a privilege and I am proud of the results that we achieved together. We came within a point of a title in our first year together and proved a lot of people wrong, and even though this year has been tough we have still pushed forward, won a race and scored podiums. I wish Honda all the best in the future.”

Honda Racing’s Team Principal, Neil Fletcher, paid tribute to Bridewell’s contribution:

“I would like to thank Tommy for his remarkable contributions to Honda Racing over the past two seasons. Together we achieved race wins, podiums and came within a point of a championship title. His relentless commitment when on the bike is testament to the determination that he embodies, there are very few riders who, when the visor goes down and the lights go out, give quite as much as Tommy does. On behalf of everyone at Honda Racing I wish him well in his future racing and we look forward to sharing the race track again soon.”

No announcement has yet been made regarding who will take Bridewell’s place at Honda Racing for the 2026 BSB season, but with testing only months away, the rumour mill will no doubt be firing up soon.
