Stuntman Wheelies Vespa up a Mountain While Blindfolded
Guenther Schachermayr has managed to wheelie a Vespa without a front wheel 4.5km up a mountain in Austria - all while wearing a blindfold.

You may remember a few years ago when Dougie Lampkin wheelied the Isle of Man TT course riding one of his own Vertigo trials bikes. Well, Guenther Schachermayr might have just topped it with his latest stunt.
For those who don’t know (and that included me half an hour ago), Schachermayr is a stunt rider with a particular penchant for doing things on a Vespa that really shouldn’t be possible. From dragging a Cessna plane to take off speeds, to riding up a ski jump, if it’s a wild idea that involves the iconic Italian scooter, he’s on it like a car bonnet. He also looks like a cross between Hulk Hogan and a prime Dolph Lundgren, which has no relevance to this at all, but it’s a strangely mesmerising mix.
Finished Googling him? Good, I’ll continue.

His latest stunt saw the perma-tanned adrenaline junkie wheelie a specially adapted Vespa a reported 4.5km (2.7 miles) up a very tight and extremely twisty mountain road in St. Ulrich, Upper Austria. To make the tricky stunt all the more perilous, the Austrian rider did the entire ride with a black sack tied over his bonce!
Obviously, the bike was specially adapted in a few ways, firstly with the removal of the front wheel, while it also had skateboard trucks fitted underneath to allow it to roll should the front end have dropped down. It also had a medical oxygen tank fitted beneath the handlebars, required due to the tightness of his head covering. He also had some outside assistance, in the form of a support vehicle which was directing him left and right via a radio link.

And while Schachermayr normally undertakes these kinds of things to bag himself world records, this ride was in preparation for something much bigger. He’s now planning to wheelie blindfolded up the famous Grossglockner Alpine pass, which, if he completes the entire thing, is around 25 miles in length!
There’s no word on when that attempt is going to be made, although we’ll be keeping tabs on his YouTube to bring you the video of it when it does happen.
