Suzuki-powered CRT to wildcard at Indy

Wildcard CRT entry using a Suzuki GSX-R1000 engine in a billet aluminium frame

Suzuki-powered CRT to wildcard at Indy

AFTER withdrawing at the end of last season Suzuki will be back on the MotoGP grid in some form, powering a wildcard CRT entry at Indianapolis.

The entry comes from GPTech, who made an appearance in the Moto2 race at Indy in 2010 with Jason DiSalvo riding an FTR bike to a credible ninth place finish. For their CRT machine, the American team will employ BCL Motorsports to manufacturer a billet aluminium frame to house a Suzuki GSX-R1000 engine from the project's technical partners Vesrah Suzuki and MCJ Motorsports.

The project has been going since January, and in the announcement GPTech owner, Geoff Maloney said:
“The new CRT rules have allowed us the freedom to develop a complete program that is worthy of being on the MotoGP grid.”

The team are now drafting a shortlist of acceptable riders for the wildcard appearance in August.

GPTech's entry will be the second wildcard CRT bike at the American round joining Attack Performance, who will also race at Laguna Seca.
