Road-going GP45 Super Twin

One-off road bike based on a GP45 racer

Road-going GP45 Super Twin

SHOEHORNING an Aprilia SXV450 into a lightweight road racer created the GP45 Super Twins series, now the race bike has become a road-legal special.

In a bespoke build for a customer, the special uses the 450 Aprilia twin as a donor. The engine remains encased in the supermoto bike's chassis with custom moulded GP45 fairing and seat unit, taking the bike away from its roots. The engine is standard keeping the 60bhp and overall the bike weighs 120kg.

The GP45 SXV450 is suspended on Marzocchi USD 43mm race forks and the standard Sachs rear shock has been shortened to the spec of the race seres. Wheels of the bespoke SXV450 sports bike are Marchesini Magnesium GP race wheels, taken from Rattapak Willarot's Honda 250GP bike, with braking from the radial calipers of the Aprilia supermoto on wavy discs.

The price of the build has been kept confidential, but a basic kit for a self-built model costs £5300, not including the donor bike.
