DANNY Buchan, the #83 TAS Racing British Superbike rider, has launched his own Patreon subscription page.

Patreon is a website which can be used by people to generate funding for projects. The platform has been popular among creatives, with countless podcasts, comedians, journalists and more using Patreon to generate financial income.

The subscription service allows users to subscribe to their chosen pages for a fee which is sometimes set by the creator, and sometimes set by the donor - this choice is up to the creator.

Patreon has been especially popular among comedians, who are able to use the service to make money from comedy, and grow their fanbase and audience in a way that previously might have only been possible through TV appearances. In the UK, the Have A World podcast, presented by Adam Rowe and Dan Nightingale, has been on Patreon since early 2020 and since then has become one of the fastest-growing pages in the world with just under 11,000 patrons at time of writing.

In the motorcycle world, the Paddock Pass Podcast, which covers MotoGP, World Superbikes and some motocross stuff as well, also has its own Patreon page, as does Motomatters. In these cases, Patreon is used to give access to exclusive content for its subscribers, such as paywalled articles or podcasts.

Buchan will not be the first rider to use Patreon for funding. In America, Kevin Moranz rides as a privateer in the 450SX class of the AMA Supercross series. With five tiers available, subscribers can pledge from £57.50 per month, to as much as £1900 per month. There are a number of exclusive rewards Moranz offers on his Patreon, from signed photos to having your name on the bike.

In an Instagram post, Buchan said that his Patreon page will offer “exclusive member only competitions, exclusive members discounts on all merchandise, exclusive Q&As for the Patreon members and many more cool things.”

Buchan also said that there will be monthly prizes up for grabs for the members, including race helmets and leathers.
