No, There Isn’t a New Nicky Hayden Netflix Show

Over the course of the last week a webpage appeared that purported to reveal that a new Netflix documentary was in production, focusing on the life and times of Nicky Hayden, AKA ‘The Kentucky Kid’.

After seeing the said webpage and feeling less than confident of the source, we started to do some digging, and it turns out that the whole thing is a hoax. The webpage is basically a scam page, and reports suggest that should you click on it, you’ll be bombarded with pop-ups that are impossible to close, and that should you inadvertently click on one, you could be at risk of loading malicious spy and malware onto your computer.

We obviously aren’t going to link to the webpage in question, although below is a screenshot showing what the page looks like above. The first alarm bell that rang for us, was the fact that instead of a motorcycle news website being the first to break the news, this news was coming from a website that seems to usually deal in gaming and technology articles.

The second red flag is the lead image was pixelated and very low-resolution, portraying Hayden flying the Stars and Stripes, presumably after clinching one of his three MotoGP wins, and perhaps on the way to his 2006 World Championship crown. The third red flag was the copy on the webpage, which gave zero information about the production of the show, or who was presenting it and when it might be landing on screens. Instead, it spoke about Hayden’s racing career in MotoGP and beyond, and the entire piece of ‘writing’ reeked of being written by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

So in short, if you see a webpage linking to a website called Gameon247, and titled “Netflix Set To Release A Documentary About The Legendary Career And Death of Nicky Hayden.” being shared on social media, please don’t click on it, and definitely don’t share it.
