New Yamaha MT-09 SP Review 2021 | All You Need to Know About the New Yamaha MT-09 SP

The news will allow Yamaha to add to its expansive range of small-capacity machines, although for the first time, a true retro-styled bike will slot into the ranks.

We already had a strong suspicion that the XSR125 was about to arrive, last week the news broke that type approval documents revealed the bike, although today is the first chance to look over the official images of the bike, as well as the specs.

The new machine is set to be the first stepping stone on the path for new riders looking for some retro style and means Yamaha now has a fully joined-up range that features the new XSR125, XSR700, and XSR900 models.

At the heart of the new bike is the same 125cc 4-valve liquid-cooled single-cylinder Euro5 engine as found in the highly successful MT-125 naked and R125 sports bike. It produces the full 11kW (14.7bhp) allowed by CBT licence restrictions and features Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system that ensures torque at lower engine speeds together nice little rush as the rev-counter rises.

The new 2021 Yamaha XSR125 is equipped with 37mm USD forks, chunky block-pattern tyres, disc brakes front and rear, and a two-channel ABS system.

The XSR125 colour schemes feature a strong horizontal motif that reinforces the timeless design and gives this model a pure look with a universal appeal. Three colours will be available: Redline (VRSK); Tech Black (MDNM6); and Impact Yellow (CPY), each of them featuring colour coordinated painted front and rear mudguards, dual-stripe tank graphics, and side panel logos.

Deliveries to European Yamaha dealers will commence in June 2021. The new bike is priced at £4450 OTR.
