Spy shots reveal Husqvarna is working on a smaller version of its new Norden ADV line, most likely the Husqvarna Norden 401

Images have surfaced of what appears to be the second in Husqvarna’s all-new adventure-focused ‘Norden’ range with a ‘401’ set to follow on from the new 901.

The Swedish firm revealed its plans to go ADV at the 2019 EICMA show with the 901 Norden concept and though it has taken almost two years for the model to finally hit the road, the company has been dropping a series of teasers in recent weeks ahead of an imminent launch.

Marking the firm’s first foray into the adventure-tourer segment, it appears Husqvarna are going to extend the range to use the 401 architecture that can be found in the Vitpilen and Svartpilen roadster twins.

Spy shots emerging on the Speedweek.de website show a mule originating from the Svartpilen, albeit with a taller front fascia, raised suspension and knobbly tyres to give away this is most likely going to be a Norden off-roader.

This would tally up with Husqvarna’s mirrored take on the KTM motorcycles on which they are based, with the Norden 401 in line with the Austrian firm’s 390 Adventure offering.

That said, while we call this the Norden 401, it is understood the next generation Svartpilen and Vitpilen are being readied with an engine upgrade to 501, which essentially means it will be using the 490cc engines KTM are currently working on.

Either way, while KTM Adventure range is more geared those that do like to get their knobbly tyres muddy, then the equivalent Norden 901 will be targeted more at tourer models, such as the Yamaha Tracer.

With this in mind, any Norden 401 will likely have models like the Honda CB 500 X and Benelli TRK 502 firmly in its sights.
