Mash Motorcycles unveils new 750cc touring bike

Mash Motorcycles has revealed an interesting midsize touring machine in Europe. Will it come here?

Remember when full-on touring motorbikes were popular? Mash Motorcycles does, and has just rolled out a new midsize machine aimed at recapturing the spirit of early 2000s motorcycling.

Looking not unlike something that an AI design program might produce when fed loads of images of the Honda Pan European and BMW R 1300 RT, the new Mash GT750 isn’t quite as formidable as the machines it’s imitating. But it does look like it could cover a certain amount of distance in comfort.

Powered by a 730cc parallel-twin engine, the GT750 claims a peak power output of 74.8 hp at 8500 rpm and a top speed just shy of 130 mph. Equipped with a Bosch ABS system, Brembo brakes, and Michelin Road 6 tyres, the GT750 doesn’t skimp on components.

Because it’s a China-made motorcycle, one would also expect an impressive suite of electronics and software that runs in contrast to its asking price. Whether it actually has such technowhizzbangery is unknown. At present, the GT750 is not offered in the UK. And finding information about it elsewhere is tricky.

Mash Motorcycles is a nominally French outfit, selling motorcycles that are made in China. In the case of the GT750, the bike is built by China’s Jedi Motor, which may be the coolest name for a motorcycle company ever. Jedi was founded in 1975 and has spent most of its history producing motorcycles for Chinese police and fire services.

Mash Motorcycles' French website offers little detail of the GT750 beyond specs. Jedi Motor, meanwhile, offers some (badly translated) information about its own very similar ST750. It says that the bike “is exactly what a motorcyclist wants. Emotions!” and that its dashboard is “in style with the bike’s handsome display. Fully digital and super-informative, it is reminiscent of many high-class cars. Another touch of uniqueness.”

Mash Motorcycles states that the GT750’s weight is 275 kg, which is pretty hefty for a machine of this displacement. But it does have a 24-liter fuel tank, so that may be part of it.

In France, the GT750 sells for €11,999. That works out to roughly £10,480 at current exchange rates. That’s pretty expensive for a Chinese-made 750, so let’s assume that, yes, the electronics package on this thing is of the sort that would blow our minds.

Perhaps that’s the reason the bike isn’t currently being offered in the UK: Mash Motorcycles is concerned British riders wouldn't be able to handle its goodness.
