QJMotor’s new SRT400X could soon be the brand’s go-to small-capacity ADV

QJMotor’s rapidly growing range of motorcycles could soon have a sub-500cc adventure model added to it.

QJMotor might soon be about to join the sub-500cc ADV space, with an all-new SRT400X model rumoured to be on the way.

Most internet rumours suggest the SRT400X will be powered by a 449cc parallel-twin that QJ Motors uses in a number of its 500 models. That engine produces around 52 bhp, which would mean outgunning the CFMoto 450MT and upcoming BMW F 450 GS.

But if that's the case, why call it a 400? If the SRT400X follows normal QJMotors convention, it is more likely to be powered by the company's 400cc parallel-twin, which produces 41.5 bhp.

Rather than speculate too much on the potential new model, we’re going to tell you where this bike might land in terms of comparisons, and rivals.

The SRT400X, not just because of its Chinese counterpart CFMoto, is likely to draw the attention from the same customers that are interested in the 450MT.

The 450MT bolsters a 449cc engine that delivers 41.57bhp at 8,500rpm, making the MT A2-licence compliant straight out of the box, and 30.9 lb ft of torque at 6,500rpm.

Other models we think it could challenge, pending an arrival on UK shores, are Royal Enfield’s Himalayan 450 and Voge’s DS525X. We think the new Voge DS625X will be out of its range.

BMW’s new F 450 GS is also likely to be a contender to QJMotor’s new machine. The F 450 GS is set to be powered by a 450cc parallel-twin engine that produces 46bhp. We would expect the SRT400X to land somewhere around that number once Euro5+ restrictions have been factored in.

Like various other models in its range, we would expect QJMotor’s sub-500cc ADV to benefit from Marzocchi suspension, as well as other top-of-the-range parts. However, once more information becomes clear on the bike and all its confirmed specs, we will update this story.
