Man to Face Trial After Allegedly Stealing £30k from Motorcycle Club
A man in his sixties has allegedly stolen £30,565 from a motorcycle club in Northern Ireland over the span of six years

Roy Beattie, aged 63, has allegedly stolen £30,565 from the Belfast and District Motorcycle Club over the span of six years.
The Country Down man has appeared in court for the alleged theft from the club, which is set to hold its latest race meet today.
The Belfast and District Motorcycle Club is the oldest in Northern Ireland after being established in 1906. The race club is known for organising and promoting various popular motorcycle events at the Kirkistown Race Circuit in Co Down.
Beattie was sent for trial at the Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after a judge ruled that he had a prima facie case (a case taken at face value) to answer. During the brief preliminary hearing, the Court was made aware that he allegedly stole £30,565 that belonged to the club through credits to his bank account. According to the prosecution, it’s believed the offence was committed between January 2013 and December 2018.
Beattie decided not to provide evidence or call any witnesses at this stage in the trial. According to The Irish News, District Judge Steven Keown ordered: “He is returned for trial at Belfast Crown Court on a date to be fixed.”
The defendant has since been released on continuing bail, with Beattie set to reappear in front of the court at a later date. Until 2000, the Belfast and District Club was best known for promoting the Carrowdore 100 road race.
