The Gold Award is the highest accolade a motorcycle can win from the iF Product Design discipline, while the WN7’s impressive achievement also marks the first time a Honda product has won the award.
Launched as the first electric naked model in the company's “FUN” category, the new WN7 was developed with the concept “Be the Wind.” Reservations for the new WN7 began earlier this year, and the new model will cost customers £12,999.
The WN7 produces 50kW (67bhp) of peak power, while also claiming to offer a range of up to 140km (around 87 miles), although the A1-licence version is bumped up to around 95 miles.

The new bike also makes use of an aluminium ‘frameless’ chassis which uses the battery as a stressed member with no main pipe connecting the front and rear. It also houses Showa 43mm USD front forks and an aluminium cantilever Pro-Arm swingarm.
Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Design Center at Honda R&D Co., Ltd. Toshinobu Minami, said this about the WN7 winning the iF Gold Award:
“The Honda WN7 was able to win the Gold Award in the Product Design discipline of the world-renowned iF Design Award. We are extremely honored to receive the Gold Award for the first time ever.
“We believe that this is the result of the jury’s understanding of the new value befitting the era of electrification – the joy of riding freely like the wind – from the perspective of both functionality and design. Honda will continue to create new values that surprise and inspire people and provide the joy of expanding their life’s potential.”
