54 years 8 monthsDue to take the stage at Silverstone for the upcoming British GP round of the 2021 MotoGP calendar, Valentino Rossi’s race-worn boots are up for bids alongside a number of items donated by MotoGP riders to the charity.
It’s an exceptional chance to grab some one-of-a-kind memorabilia from a rider whose long-standing career is due to come to an end by the close of the 2021 season, and the Dainese boots worn by the Doctor could well be the highlight.
Other rare and unique items set for the auction block include knee & elbow sliders from Marc Marquez, and boots, sliders and a signed visor from current championship leader Fabio Quartararo.
Auctions are intended to take place on Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th of August at the Silverstone GP race weekend.
Two Wheels for Life at the Silverstone British MotoGP round
This comes as the typically annual Day of Champions format is delayed until next year due to delays caused by the ongoing pandemic. Traditionally a charity day that has been a vital fundraising event for the British charity, the Silverstone auction is hoping to partially patch a 60% gap in funding.
It’ll be part of a series of events happening alongside the racing that weekend, with August 26th to 29th having a few notable additions, including: a Thursday ‘Day of Champions Ride In’ on the 26th led by Niall and Taylor Mackenzie - even getting out on track - before heading to the Super Sausage for a breakfast-bap fuelled get together.
The 27th & 28th will feature action on the Monster Energy stage and Silverstone Mainstage, with the auction and raffles, as well as the chance to jump on the pillion pegs of a Ducati MotoX2 two-seater!
Loads going on, but the main attraction for many will be the chance to get their mitts on the MotoGP gear!
