Highland's new flat-tracker

HIGHLAND – a Swedish bike builder has just shown this glorious flat-tracker road bike at the Dealer Expo in Indianapolis. Powered by an ATK motor, the bike is planned to be the start of a range of sportsbike, dirtbike and supermoto bikes from ATK.

The ATK company is usually associated with dirt bikes in the States and bought the tooling from the Cannondale 450cc 4-stroke project in 2003 and has spent the time coming up with this first footing. Sweet, isn’t it?

ATK, based in Oklahoma and widely regarded as the last true American
dirtbike builder, is using technology developed by both Highland and Maico.

The project has two engines currently in the pipeline, a 450cc single weighing in at around 20kg and kicking out 60bhp and a 90 degree V-twin that tips the scales at around 35kg and is reported to make around 85bhp.

Good, punchy engines in a trick frame and a Maico touch of history about it? We want. We want - now.
