CRIMINALS IN DUBAI will soon have to contend will the police coming at them from above, following successful trials of a fleet of Hoverbikes.

Dubai Media Office shared photos on the machines in a police livery, calling it ‘another sign that we are catching up to the future.’

.@USATODAY: Here's another sign that we are catching up to the future: #Dubai Police may soon be patrolling the streets with hoverbikes. The vehicles, which weigh 253 pounds, fly about 16 feet above the ground and can go 60 miles per hour. pic.twitter.com/xBb7SQpTlY

The Hoverbike S3 2019 weighs just 114kg – that’s the same as a Yamaha WR250 – and can fly at 60mph, at a height of around 5 metres. It will be used as a first response vehicle in hard to reach areas from 2020.

Hoversurf, who have provided the bike, also shared a video to their YouTube showing the trials taking place.

While the exposed blades drew concern from viewers, Dubai police Chief Information Officer, Khalid N Alrazooqi, confirmed on Twitter that they will have a safety ring around them.
