As Most Electric Bike Brands Falter One is Posting Record Profits

If you want an example of the environment that electric motorcycles are best suited to, take a look at Stark Future’s posted profits

The electric motorcycle industry is at a tipping point, and it seems like every other month we receive the news that another electric bike maker is sadly going belly up.

One brand, though, is flying the flag for two-wheels and battery power, and it’s helping to highlight the playground in which electric motorcycles make the absolute most sense.

The company is Stark Future (SF), the makers of the Stark Varg motocross bike and Stark Varg EX enduro bike. Stark burst onto the scene in 2019 after being founded by Anton Wass (CEO) and Paul Soucy (CTO). The firm made headlines almost instantly, thanks to the bike's wild performance claims and slick-shot social media videos.

And as is the way when another new e-bike brand lands in the market, most people didn’t think Stark would be around for very long. How wrong they were, as just this week Stark’s CEO shared the news that the Swedish-rooted, and Spanish headquartered, brand had posted record numbers for April, topping EBITDA of €2.8 million (£2.3 million). The money comes from a record monthly revenue of €18.3 million (£15.4 million).

Speaking about the news, Stark Future CEO, Anton Wass, said:

"This achievement comes barely two years after SF's first commercial sales, remarkably faster than incumbent EV leaders, and more resembling the growth rates of some of the world's most successful technology firms in history."

Wass also gave a nod to Stark’s latest model, the EX enduro machine. It’s that bike which launched the brand into the road-legal and lucrative green laning and trail riding markets. It’s here where the Varg’s whisper-quiet delivery comes across as a much less audibly offensive machine compared to a traditional single-cylinder thumper and two-stroke enduro machine.

"We have been steadily approaching this profitability event, driven by the popularity of the off-road VARG MX, but the phenomenal reception of the newly available Stark VARG EX, the company's groundbreaking street-legal Enduro model, has brought this landmark occasion."

The press release from SF also points to possible future projects from the growing brand, as it clearly has its sights set on much larger capacity bikes. The press release reads:

“Looking to the future, Stark Future is focused on repeating the success it has found in the motocross and enduro segments, in much larger motorcycle categories.”

Both versions of the Stark Varg weigh in at under 120kg, and can produce up to 80bhp. It’s the smooth and seemingly never-ending torque, though, and top-spec chassis hardware, that make them so formidable on track. Both bikes can produce up to 764lb ft of torque. They are numbers that a traditional enduro or motocross bike simply can’t match, and part of what makes the Varg one of the best electric motorcycles on the planet right now.
