Patent images hint at new electric Honda
A new Honda could be on the way after patent images revealed an electric bike based on the ‘Shine’ model that’s sold in India

Honda recently revealed its first full-size electric motorcycle, the E-VO, but a new entry-level model could be coming based on patent images.
It’s unknown if and when the E-VO will land in the UK, and that’s also true about this potential electric model. The patents indicate that Honda's new electric bike will be based on the Honda Shine.
That bike is believed to be one of the best selling commuter bikes in India, although it’s not available in the UK. If these patent images are correct, it means that the electric bike will share major design features with the Shine.
The patents suggest that Honda's new electric bike retains the Shine's silhouette, although it gets the addition of a few EV-specific updates.
The patent seems to show an electric bike that’s fitted with a single-speed reduction gear transmission. From there, two lithium-ion batteries seem to form part of the bike’s makeup, both of which are removable.
The images show a gap between the two batteries, which could allow for an air intake system to be fitted, as well as an air channel for battery cooling.
According to reports the patent has already been filed by Honda, although it could be some time before production gets underway. The addition of this electric ‘Shine’ spin-off model would make sense as the Japanese brand continues to diversify its EV range.
