The new store means Ducati riders in the North of England have two Ducati dealerships in the south of the region, DMC in Ribbleton and Ducati Leeds, and Ducati Sunderland and J&L Motorcycles (Carlisle) in the north.
The opening of the new store is the first Ducati dealership under the Vertu Motorcycles umbrella, and playing a staring role at the grand opening was the newly announced and largely revamped 2024 Panigale V4. Also appearing at the event was film and TV star, and motorcycle adventurer, Charley Boorman. Boorman has for some time been a fan of the Borgo Panigale brand’s bikes, and has recently announced his latest adventure TV show with his friend Ewan McGregor. This time the pair will be riding vintage bikes across and through Europe for the Long Way Home.
Ducati Sunderland is located on the Boldon Business Park, a stone's throw from the A19 and slap bang in the middle of Sunderland and Newcastle upon Tyne. Alongside the full range of Ducati and Scrambler models available at the store, it also stocks a large range of apparel and accessories, can provide servicing and will support the Ducati Approved programme.
Speaking at the opening, Chris Taylor, Operations Director at Vertu Motors plc, said:
“We’re absolutely delighted to be partnering with Ducati to bring this globally revered upper-premium motorcycle brand to the North East for the first time. Ducati has an incredibly loyal following among motorbike enthusiasts, and we are excited to see this community grow even further. Ducatisti and motorcycle enthusiasts in the North East had the opportunity to attend our official opening event on Sunday, 14th September. We welcomed the fantastic Charley Boorman to the dealership, someone I know is hugely popular with bikers across the region.”
