Brit motorcyclist clocked doing 161mph on UK roads
A motorcyclist in the UK was caught doing over 160mph, which is the highest speeding offence recorded by West Mercia Police in the last five years.

West Mercia Police have shared details regarding some of the region’s highest speeding offences, after a motorcyclist was recorded doing 161mph.
The motorcyclist was reportedly riding a Yamaha when he set the above-mentioned speed, which is the highest speeding offence recorded by the force in the last five years.
According to Worcester News, the offence took place on the A5 northbound in Shropshire at 8:37pm on July 8, 2025 - the same stretch of road that the motorcyclist was caught doing 130mph just 12 minutes later.

Both speeding offences took place on a stretch of road that has a maximum speed limit of 70mph, so in the first case, the speed limit was broken by a whopping 91mph.
A suspect was taken to court after the fact, while the case has since been recorded as ‘adjourned’ in the list of top five speed offences recorded between 2022 and May 2026 by the force, says the same report.

District councillor in Bromsgrove and retired police inspector, Bernard McEldowney, said this to Worcester News about the speeding offence:
“I must admit, I am surprised at how high some of the detected speeds have been, especially the motorcycle detected doing 161mph in a 70mph speed limit. At that speed, the rider must have or should have known that if they were involved in an accident they almost certainly would not have survived it.
“They should also have known that if that accident had involved another vehicle or a pedestrian, it could have resulted in further serious injuries or fatalities.”
Other instances of speeding offences recorded by West Mercia police include a car that was caught doing 127mph on the A435 Hollywood bypass in Worcestershire.
