Ducati DesertX and DesertX Rally gain 115 litres of storage with new luggage set

SW-Motech has revealed a new hard luggage set with a claimed 115 litres of storage, exclusive to Ducati’s DesertX and DesertX Rally models. 

According to the motorcycle accessory specialists, the new set is built around three of SW-Motech’s DUSC hard cases. These include a 41-litre left-hand case, a 33-litre case on the right side (sized to clear the Desert X’s exhaust), and a 41-litre top case. 

Each case has been made through a thermoforming process, which involves heating a plastic sheet until it becomes pliable, before moulding it into the desired shape. The 3mm-thick ABS plastic shells are reinforced with an aluminium frame in order to stand up to the demands of adventure touring.  

The cases are fully waterproof, says SW-Motech, while a “co-locking closure system secures the lid and the case to its carrier in a single action”. The luggage set comes with integrated lashing points, carrying handles and scratch-protective inlays as standard.

SW-Motech’s PRO Side Carrier and Adventure-Rack mounting systems have been developed specifically for the DesertX and DesertX Rally. The PRO Side Carrier is made from 2.5mm-thick powder-coated steel. Additionally, the Adventure-Rack is made from 4mm-thick aluminium alloy, which has been lab tested.

The new adventure set includes everything needed to fit it to Ducati’s DesertX models. That includes full adapter kits, a lock set, lid limiters, mounting hardware and instructions. SW-Motech has also added a multi-tool keychain, featuring a quick-release fastener key, hex keys and a bottle opener.

The SW-Motech DUSC Adventure Set is compatible with 2022-on Ducati DesertX and 2023-on DesertX Rally models. It is priced at £1,379.99, including VAT and is covered by a two-year warranty.
