BMW has confirmed a set of new colours and optional equipment across several models, including its retro-styled R12 and R1300 GS.

BMW has announced new colours and optional equipment for selected 2026 models, all of which can now be fitted with a new navigation preparation electric unlocking system, meaning a key is no longer necessary.

That particular update is across all BMW Motorrad models, although specific equipment is now optional for different motorbikes and these are the ones benefiting from the update.

Starting with the M1000 XR, and aside from the optional equipment mentioned above, the only update with the 200bhp sports tourer is a fresh colourway for the 2026, which features an additional M colour scheme in Aurelius Green metallic matt.

The only other model listed that receives a fresh colour update and no further optional equipment is the F900 GS, which gets the same ‘Passion’ variant in Sao Paulo Yellow that’s also found aboard the new CE 04 electric scooter. It also benefits from a Lightwhite non-metallic/Racingblue metallic. Both editions lose the front mudguard tape detail that was found on both 2025 models.

The F900 GS Adventure does see a tweak when it comes to ‘optional’ equipment - the Ride Pro package remains aboard the bike, but the Dynamic ESA (electronic suspension) and the centre stand are no longer included as standard within the package and are now offered as individual options.

However, this change means the Ride Pro package can be paired with lowered suspension for the first time, offering greater flexibility for riders seeking a more detailed set-up. Colour-wise, the F900 GS gets a new Sage Green metallic colour scheme, with the white Aluminium metallic matt dropped.

Staying with the adventure segment, the F800 GS gains a high windscreen on both the Sport and Triple Black variants, however, the tinted windscreen option will no longer be offered on the Sport variant. A new Gravityblue Metallic colour option is included for 2026, and is supported with a black and grey seat. The Racingblue Metallic paint scheme will be discontinued.

The big-bore R1300 GS model also gets in on the fun with the Innovation Package gaining an update. What that means is Adaptive Light Modes are now included in the Innovation Package as standard. Riders searching for more flexibility can get the lighting technology as an optional standalone feature.

As part of the ‘Option 719’ premium range, the R1300 GS gets a new Biscaya finish in Imperial Blue Metallic/White Aluminium Metallic Matt, while the Option 719 Tramuntana colour scheme will be dropped. A new basic colour scheme features Racingred non-metallic as the Lightwhite non-metallic gets discontinued.

Finally, the BMW R12 and R12 nineT get refreshed for 2026, with both bikes featuring an M Lightweight Battery as an option. Both models also get a black headlight that replaces the Silver option.

As part of the Option 719 customisation platform, a new ‘Beryllium’ colourway is included for the R12, which features a Meteoric Dust II metallic finish. The Option 719 “Thorium” Avus Silver metallic has been dropped. Another new colour scheme includes Gravityblue metallic at an extra charge. Aventurin Red metallic is dropped from the collection. For the nineT a new Imperial Blue metallic colourway has been added, while the San Remo green metallic offering is exiting the fold.

All of these updates will be effective from August 2025 in authorised BMW Motorrad dealers.
