BMW M1000 R morphs into 207bhp hyperquad

It’s not all that often you see a super-naked motorcycle become a hyperquad, let alone one that can be ridden on the road, but that’s what Exeet has just revealed.

A motorcycle that’s capable of 207bhp and a quad bike in the same sentence is far from the norm, but that’s exactly what we have here, with this converted BMW M1000 R that’s fully street-legal.

Forgive me for taking you down a slightly unrelated path, but it’s important to point out that Exeet GmbH, which is the custom house behind this bonkers MR Competition build, is actually very well known for converting motorcycles into four-wheel quad beasts.

The company has previously morphed several Kawasaki models into hyperquad machines, including a Z H2 variant. It has also used a BMW S1000 R and a Ducati Streetfighter as the base for previous street-legal quads.

Exeet was founded by veteran quad racer Sebastian Jornitz in 2012, who spent years designing and building his own racing quads, as well as running his own dealership. That was prior to starting this company, which specifically builds street-legal motorcycle-based quads.

Now, in terms of the new M1000 R-based hyperquad, it uses the same 999cc water/oil-cooled engine that’s housed by BMW’s naked motorcycle. It produces 210 hp (around 207.1bhp) and roughly 116 Nm (85.5 Ib-ft of torque), around 3 Nm of torque more than BMW claims its motorcycle makes.

The MR Competition is registered in Germany as a new vehicle, and it was part-built as a project for a customer, and as a company show bike. The electronics have largely remained the same as the M1000 R, however, some of the main changes include the development and fabrication of an Exeet quad chassis.

Its double wishbone front suspension is from Öhlins, and has been tuned specifically for this vehicle. The frame was built in-house by Exeet, while custom bodywork and carbon panels have also been added.

When speaking to Bike Bound, Exeet managing director Thorsten Arenz said this about the new M1000 R-based hyperquad:

“The design idea in one sentence was: ‘Superbike heart in a vehicle that visually feels more like a small prototype race car — clean, technical, without fake drama.'”

The company also added:

“It feels like a Formula 2 car with a motorcycle handlebar - positively crazy… On the road it’s extremely precise: sharp turn-in, lots of feedback, brutal but controllable braking. On track it becomes a real edge-of-your-helmet experience — very late braking points, high corner speeds, and superbike-level acceleration out of the turn, but with much more stability.”

You can find out more about some of the motorcycle-converted quads the company has built on the official Exeet website.
