Hometown hero Billy Bolt wins 2025 Red Bull Tyne Ride
Billy Bolt walked away from his home event as the winner, after defeating Triumph’s Jonny Walker.

The second edition of the Red Bull Tyne Ride has gone in favour of Newcastle’s own Billy Bolt, with the local hero getting the better of Triumph rider Jonny Walker during the final.
Prior to the event Bolt took part in various lighthearted challenges against fellow Brit Jack Price, including a race up the stands of Newcastle United’s St. James’ Park stadium. However, last weekend’s event was the showdown everyone had been waiting for.
With a star-studded line-up of enduro racers taking part, the best-of-three heats didn’t offer much room for error, but Bolt never needed a third run.
The win for Bolt marks his first at the event which, together with Red Bull, he organised. His victory also means he’s unbeaten at the event as the Brit did not compete in the inaugural race in 2024 due to injury.
Speaking after his win, Bolt told the media: “It feels so good. I had to watch from the sidelines last year, so it gave me the opportunity to appreciate how big and how amazing this event is. But riding this year, there was only one goal in my mind.
“The pressure was on as it’s my hometown. I actually felt a bit nervous this morning and there’s a lot of people here with high expectations for me. I had a couple of shaky runs early on if I’m honest, but I started to turn it on and execute how I wanted towards the end. So, amazing day, amazing crowd, amazing place to ride. Just super grateful to be part of it all. I couldn’t believe the turn out last year and I think we’ve even beaten it this year.”
The races were run with riders starting side-by-side and the track featured impressive jumps, steep ramps, a boulder garden and log matrix, shipping containers and more.
