Rouse was 26 at the time of the crash and was a much-loved member of the paddock as well as a secondary school maths teacher and highly successful podcaster on the show Chasin’ the Racin’.
The walk is being organised by Chrissy’s sister, who’s calling for any who wish to take part in the walk at what she describes as a ‘special place’ that the family used to visit. The 6.9-mile circular route around Roseberry Topping, taking in the Captain Cook monument and also ending at a pub - which should be mandatory on any country walk.
The walk isn’t a charity fundraising event, more of a way for people who might have known Chrissy, or just enjoyed his on and off-track exploits, who want to come together and enjoy the scenery, hopefully going some way to making what could be a very difficult day a little bit easier.
Chrissy’s sister is asking that those who wish to take part in the walk to head to the Facebook event page which should help the family keep track of the number of people wanting to join.
Chrissy’s racing career began at the tender age of seven, and lead to him claiming many race wins and multiple championships. Quite possibly his biggest win, though, came in 2020, during the Covid-effected years of the BSB. At the start of 2020, it looked as though Chrissy would be without at a ride, although an eleventh-hour deal with Crowe Performance saved the day.
Chrissy and his team grabbed the chance and were eventually rewarded with the title, with the number 69 claiming the championship at the final round of the season.
