Aprilia’s MotoGP-like RSV4 X-GP sells out in record time

Aprilia’s most advanced model in the X series has sold out in record time.

Unveiled at the Catalunya Grand Prix last month, the Aprilia RSV4 X-GP sold out in just 14 days, which is a new record for any of the brand’s X models.

It’s not a complete surprise that’s happened as the new X-GP is nothing short of a track missile full of carbon fibre parts and winglets mirroring its GP bike that’s raced by Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin. It’s also the closest thing to a MotoGP bike Aprilia has released for the public.

The new X-GP bike was made available in just 30 units, which no doubt added to the appeal of wanting to own one of these bikes. However, for all of them to find a new home people would have needed to spend €90,000 (around £78,000) + VAT.

Housed inside the bike’s frame is Aprilia’s most powerful ever engine which produces 238hp, while the bike weighs just 168kg. To go alongside its mammoth power figure and slender body weight are a number of MotoGP-developed features.

Aprilia says the bikes were sold across the world including Europe, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, Malaysia, and the United States. It also goes on to say “the booking requests had vastly exceeded the number of bikes available already during the weekend of its presentation in Barcelona.”

The X-GP was built to celebrate the Noale-based company’s 10th anniversary of the RS-GP racing in MotoGP, after Aprilia made its return to Grand Prix racing in 2015. The X-GP is also the fifth instalment in Aprilia’s ultra-exclusive “X” line, following the RSV4 X (2019), Tuono X (2020), RSV4 X Trenta (2022) and RSV4 X ex3ma (2024).

Adding to its unique appeal, the X-GP is the first factory derivative bike in the world to introduce leg and tail wings, according to Aprilia, which also says the aerodynamic parts on the new ‘X’ model can only be found on the RS-GP prototype. The RSV4 X-GP also boasts a brand-new feature, that being a structural carbon seat support.

Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia Racing, said:

“X confirms its status for Aprilia Racing as an exclusive and niche brand with enormous potential. Aprilia Racing is synonymous with innovation and it fills us with pride to see that, even at a strategic and product level, we have created an iconic brand and a new type of absolutely exclusive bike, conceived specifically for track enthusiasts.”
