Ducati Unveils Hypermotard V2, Hypermotard V2 SP
Ducati’s hooligan machine gets sweeping updates for 2026 – not least of which being a new engine.

Twenty years after first arriving on the scene at EICMA, Ducati’s Hypermotard is being reborn with the Italian brand’s V2 engine now driving the fun.
“Some motorcycles become icons,” declares Ducati in a gushing, 6,000-word media release. “The fourth-generation Hypermotard is a completely redesigned motorcycle, carrying the legacy of a legendary model and projecting it into the future thanks to a totally new technical base and an unmistakable design.”
The fourth-generation supermoto will be available in two flavours: Hypermotard V2 and Hypermotard V2 SP.
Powered by an 890cc V-twin engine claiming 120 hp at 10750 rpm and a chunky 69.3 lb-ft of torque at 8,250 rpm (70-percent of which is available below 3000 rpm, according to Ducati), the Hypermotard weighs in at a respectable 180 kg wet – or 177 kg if you step up to the SP version. For context, that is LESS than the weight of World’s Strongest Man Tom Stoltman (He’s 185 kg).

And the Hypermotard hustles that weight in a very un-Stoltmanlike way. Shorter gear ratios and higher torque (compared to previous versions) mean the Hypermotard is “more responsive” in Ducati’s words. We read that as “even more ready and willing to hoist the front end skyward.”
“Compared to the previous 950… the new Hypermotard V2s are more nimble, responsive, and exciting than ever,” says Ducati.
It’s also nominally practical, with valve-clearance intervals coming every 45,000 km (roughly 28,000 miles).
The engine isn’t the only thing that’s changed, though. The Hypermotard V2s have also been dramatically restyled to look, in Ducati’s words “robotic and modern.” Wide handlebars and a narrow middle conform to the signature styling of a supermoto. While “the texture on the seat and side panels, inspired by that used on the Panigale V4, increases grip and feeling for the bike.”

The standard is equipped with an adjustable Kayaba suspension, while the SP boasts a fully
adjustable Öhlins suspension. Both versions are equipped with a Sachs steering damper.
The V2 rides on Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres in 120/70 and 190/55 sizes, while the Sp steps up to Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tyres. Pirelli Diablo Superbike slicks are available for track use.
Both feature a Brembo braking system, and you bet your biscuits this thing is loaded with tech: Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), and Engine Brake Control (EBC), and riding modes, to name a few.

A 5-inch TFT dashboard allows you to keep tabs on it all.
The V2 will arrive in European dealerships in April 2026. Those living in North America will have to wait until May. Australian readers will have to sit on their hands until October. Pricing has not yet been announced.
