Kawasaki’s hugely popular and versatile sports tourer is the next model to get the 2025 treatment, as the new Ninja 1100SX breaks cover.

As the name suggests, and following on from the news earlier this week regarding the 2025 Kawasaki Versys 1100, the new Ninja SX features a revised engine which has swollen to 1,099cc - up from 1,043 of the outgoing model.

The power produced by the newly revamped engine is up on the outgoing Ninja 1000 SX, with the new bike producing a claimed 134bhp, down on the 140bhp claimed to come from the old outgoing bike. Torque is up slightly on where it was before, with Kawasaki claiming 83lb ft from the new machine, up from the 81lb ft of the previous generation model. The press release doesn't disclose how the engine has been adapted for the model. We assume the increase in capacity has been achieved by lengthening the stroke of the engine by 3mm while retaining the same 77mm bore as before - as is the case with the new Versys 1100. Until we get clarification from Kawasaki, though, that is speculation.

What we do know from the press release is that the new bike has gained an increase in mid-range torque, which has allowed Kawasaki’s engineers to fit a taller fifth and sixth gear, which should make motorway cruising more refined and economical.

The big news from the announcement is that the Ninja SX range will be growing in 2025, with the inclusion of the SE variant. Unlike the other SE variants in the Kawasaki range, the new top-spec SX doesn’t gain electronically adjusted suspension, as found on the Versys 1100 SE and H2 SX SE, although it does get a decent boost in chassis spec.

At the front of the new model Brembo M4.32 front brake calipers replace the previous bike’s house-branded items. They are mated to an updated master cylinder as well as braided hoses for a more responsive feel. At the rear of the bike a new Ohlins S46 rear shock can be found tucked up under the seat, complete with a remote preload adjuster for quick suspension changes when carrying luggage or a passenger. The final element setting the SE apart from the stock bike comes in the form of heated grips which are fitted to the bike as standard.
