Pump up the jam, with the Clarke CML5 bike lift
Ready to raise your workshop game? The Clarke CML5 Hydraulic Motorcycle & ATV Lift does the heavy lifting so you don’t have to—proof that sometimes the best way to get pumped is with your foot, not your biceps.

This is the Clarke CML5 Hydraulic Motorcycle & ATV Lift. If you are wondering, ATV is short for All terrain Vehicle, an American marketing term for quad bikes. And as we know, quads are a different kettle of fish to motorcycling, but there are Visordown visitors who own both bikes and quads. So, read on…
The CML5 is a must for anyone who wants to work on a bike but for one reason or another do not have the means to buy/install a permanent hydraulic pump-up work bench.
CML5 can best be described as a portable pump-up bench. It’s “portable” in the sense that it has a push pull fixed handle and four wheels, two of which are braked castor wheels, to manoeuvre it into position. That should read ‘manoeuvre two support rails’ into place under the bike’s frame. The CML5 fits if there's 135mm clearance. Perfectly.

It’ll take a couple of goes to find the bike’s balance point, but when you do, trust us, it’ll be an eureka moment. CML5 also comes with two tie-down straps to keep the bike free from wobbles when it’s lifted to its max working height of 430mm.
A foot pump works the hydraulic ram that, when pumped, lifts two support bars. It’s an obvious workshop choice for bikes with underframe rails as found on modern classic bikes. Most Honda CB and Suzuki GS models spring to mind, along with any era BMW Boxer-powered bikes. And as it has a 680kg max lift weight capacity, it’ll also lift Harley-Davidson and Indian behemoths.
So, what about modern tackle that use the engine as a stressed member? We know of one workshop chappie that has custom made, bike specific securing blocks that bolt to the support arms and match precisely to an engine’s underside. it’s amazing what you can do with a bit of two-by-four timber.
A release pedal connected to the hydraulic ram allows the lifting arms to lower gently to their resting positions as easy as saying “It’s time for a pint.”
The CML5 is solid, safe and a breeze to operate. Another sales point for CML5 is it can be stowed in the back of a van/pig trailer for track day or race day use, either in the van or in the comfort of a pitlane garage.
