The Laser 4267 Motorbike Fly Wheel Puller is a great example of a straightforward but sometime vital tool that does exactly what it says on the tin!
We’ve reviewed Laser flywheel pullers before, specifically its 4862 10-piece flywheel puller kit. But although that’s impressive, fits virtually all bikes and comes in its own useful case, at £65.99 it’s also quite an investment for a home mechanic who needs to remove a flywheel only very occasionally.

Where the 4862 10-piece kit comes with a wide variety of bolts in nearly all the possible motorcycle sizes and thread types, the 4267 is one tool and doesn’t, but still offers six different thread sizes which still cover most motorcycles. These sizes are: M10 x 1.25R, M14 x 1.5R, M16 x 1.5R, M18 x 1.5R, M24 x 1.0R and M27 x 1.0L.
As before, the procedure is straightforward: simply lock the flywheel, preferably with a separate flywheel holding tool, remove the flywheel retaining nut and washer, then, to remove the flywheel itself, use the correct size end of the flywheel puller. This has a reverse thread so onto the flywheel counterclockwise until tight. Then simply use the correct spanner or socket to unscrew the flywheel and ‘pop’ it off the crank.
The attraction of the 4267 ‘Puller’ is not just it’s affordable price but also that everything is integral in one cleverly designed, cross-shaped tool – so it also takes up less space, can easily be stored in a toolbox or chest and there’s little risk of anything getting mislaid.
