Clarke CTB500B Cantilever Toolbox review

We may all dream of a fully kitted out home workshop or garage equipped with professional standard tool cabinets and cupboards, but for day-to-day use or when needing to take your tools with you, you can’t beat a traditional, metal cantilever toolbox. 

And the CTB500B Cantilever Toolbox from Clarke is a classic, quality example of the type and also one that is available for a very affordable price. 

It’s priced £34.79, is available from Machine Mart both online and in-store and is packed with the all the features you’d expect from this type of toolbox. 

The design is very traditional. It has an all-steel body finished in red in tough, powder coat. It has a comfortable carry handle mounted on the fold-down lid which clips shut with a lock bracket (lock not supplied). It cantilevers ‘out’ to reveal a large base storage tray for bulkier, heavier tools and four narrower trays for your spanners, screwdrivers and suchlike. And, at 466mm x 209mm by 233mm (W x D x H) and weighing 5.35kg overall (without tools) it offers an ideal compromise of capacity and portability. 

Overall, the CTB500B delivers exactly as you might expect from this type of design, offering classic cantilever toolbox practicality with durability and value.
