Maxxis launch new Supermaxx ST tyre

New sports touring rubber coming spring 2015

MAXXIS has announced it will be launching a new sports touring tyre called the Supermaxx ST in spring 2015.

The Taiwanese tyre firm says the new rubber has 15% more front-end turn-in grip, 17% more mid-corner rear-end grip and 18% more cornering traction at the rear, compared to the current Maxxis Supermaxx.

The ST has an all-new design that features steel belts for improved rigidity, stiffer sidewalls and a new compound that ‘delivers outstanding grip in varied weather conditions and a consistent wear-rate on long distance tours.’

It also has a new V-groove tread pattern that is said to expel standing water from the contact patch, which helps to improve grip in wet road conditions.

The ST has been developed for a wide range of middle-weight and heavy-weight sports touring motorcycles, with ongoing testing feedback from British Superbike and World Superbike racing legend Chris Walker.

Price: £197 in sizes F120/70/17 and R18/55/17
