First bike tracker wins Thatcham Cat 7 approval

A TRACKING device has become the first for motorcycles to win Category Seven approval from Thatcham

Bike Trac has been awarded the independent tester's Category Seven approval rating, for devices which use radio waves and GPS to allow motorcycles to be tracked even inside containers.

Bike Trac's Bill Taylor commented: "Naturally we're delighted to be awarded this rating, especially as no other bike specific product has it."

Bike Trac can be accessed by log-in 24 hours a day. Features include remote battery monitoring, downloadable ride data, an override-able accident notification service. It's also got geo-fence technology, enabling users to set-up an invisible perimeter around the bike and automatically sending text alerts if it is crossed.

The device is suitable for any motorcycle and retails at £299 with a first-year subscription of £99.

Savings of up to 25% on insurance are available to Bike Trac users.
