Yamaha has confirmed that Toprak Razgatlioglu will be one of its two riders at next Monday’s 850cc MotoGP test.

The news was confirmed to Visordown’s sister publication, Crash.net, with the three-time Superbike World Champion set to be joined by Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez.

As expected, Yamaha has decided against using any riders that are unlikely to be with the manufacturer next season. That includes 2021 MotoGP champion Fabio Quartararo, who is set to join Honda for the 2027 campaign.

Razgatlioglu, who is currently the only rider under contract with Yamaha for next season, will join the likes of Marc Marquez (Ducati) and Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) at the 850cc/Pirelli test in Brno.

Meanwhile, Honda has taken a different approach as it will give current riders Joan Mir and Luca Marini the chance to test its 850cc prototype, despite both riders seemingly heading for the exit door at Honda.

Mir is expected to join the Gresini Ducati team in 2027, although Marini’s future is a bit more uncertain at this stage. While it could be viewed as a strange move to give two riders that are thought to be leaving the chance of riding next year’s bike, Mir does not see it that way.

Mir said this when speaking about next week’s test:

“I think it's a clever thing. [Honda] is trying to develop a new bike; they have two riders who developed this bike in the last years, and the progression was there. So I don't see a reason why not. They are the ones who make this decision. So [it means] it's good for them.

“We will also give good feedback to Pirelli. That is also important to try to make some evolution and to help them arrive prepared for next season.”

The one-day test will follow this weekend’s Czech Grand Prix, which will be the second MotoGP race at Brno since 2020, after the venue returned to the MotoGP calendar in 2025.
