MotoGP Authentics has put together its first-ever auction which includes some very exclusive and legendary memorabilia, including Valentino Rossi’s ‘Excalibur’ helmet.

The auction, which includes a total of 16 lots, opens Tuesday August 12, and will conclude on August 26.

The Rossi helmet, which is undoubtedly one of the most prized items of the auction, is the official lid used by ‘The Doctor’ in pre-season testing at the Sepang International Circuit, in 2007. Rossi used this striking helmet design following a tough 2006 season where he lost out on the MotoGP title in the decider at Valencia. The nine-time world champion fell short to the late Nicky Hayden, who claimed his first and last premier class championship.

Not just your usual Rossi replica, this helmet features all the quirky designs we’re accustomed to seeing with a Rossi helmet. It also features the Yamaha logo in gold and AGV branding on the top and sides of the helmet.

The idea behind Rossi’s unusual design was to include striking imagery of swords, which was a direct reference to Excalibur, the legendary sword of King Arthur.

Although Rossi missed out on the 2007 title, ending the year third in the standings, his ‘Excalibur’ helmet design lives on as one of his most memorable. The starting bid for the helmet is €5,000 (£4,332).

Another lot that you won’t want to miss includes Jake Dixon’s official 2024 Aspar race bike, which he took to the top step of the podium at last year’s British GP. The starting bid is currently set at €10,000 (£8,663).

The bike is fully race-spec, meaning you get all the equipment Dixon used to power his way to victory at Silverstone, including Pirelli slick tyres.

The bike features a 765cc liquid-cooled, inline three-cylinder engine with an approximate 138bhp. The chassis is from Kalex, and its top speed is claimed to be around 186mph.

If you are interested in owning this stunning Moto2 bike, or better yet you end up being the highest bidder, then be aware; you will need to collect it from the Aspar Factory, in Guadassuar, Valencia.

You will also receive a special VIP behind-the-scenes tour of the facilities. However, travel and accommodation costs are not included.

Other items listed include 2023 Dixon race leathers, signed race gloves and boots from Brad Binder. There’s also Marc Marquez’ artwork that has been signed by the eight-time world champion.

You can check out the Rossi lid and all the other lots in the auction over on the official website.
