Rumours of Toprak Razgatlioglu joining MotoGP have been consistent for years, although every time they have surfaced, they have flattered to deceive as the Turkish rider never made the switch. However, his manager has revealed that a move to the Grand Prix paddock is closer than ever.

Speaking at last weekend’s Dutch round in Assen where Razgatlioglu struggled for pace in dry conditions, his manager Kenan Sofuoglu admitted that discussions were ongoing about taking his star talent to MotoGP.

However, Sofuoglu confirmed that Razgatlioglu is happy with BMW, despite the attention his client is getting from MotoGP, and that continuing with the German brand is still an option if a move to the Grand Prix paddock fails altogether.

While that would make it seem that a move to MotoGP is not on the cards, Sofuoglu has hinted at a very mixed project, and one that the Turkish rider is very excited about.

Sofuoglu told WorldSBK.com: “About his future, Toprak and also the motorcycle world,  expect to see him in MotoGP. He has interest from MotoGP teams with good brands. This weekend, I have one meeting about this or that I’ve done. I told the company that ‘first, I listen to Toprak, and I offer him something, do you have interest in this if I can bring it to you?’

“Toprak got very excited, he’s very excited about it. He loves it and says, ‘please bring me this’. I had a meeting with the company, and I feel that they’re interested in the project. We need some time to see. On the other hand, with BMW, we’re very happy. BMW’s not in MotoGP. There’s a possibility that there’s a BMW option for us. I brought something like that to Toprak and he loved it.

“If the company also agrees, I think soon you’ll hear the news for Toprak. I think it’ll take a minimum of one month to be sure, because if it’s not going to work, I have to look for another route. Toprak has opportunities to go to MotoGP or stay in WorldSBK. I have a great idea; I believe it will work very well. It’s still 50-50. I said what my project is. If the company likes it, we’ll see. It’s kind of a very mixed project."

What a “very mixed project” means or looks like is unclear, but it does appear that Razgatlioglu has a very good chance of going to MotoGP in 2026 and leaving BMW in the process; however, if he remains in WorldSBK, expect that to be with the German powerhouse.
