Suzuki Goes Electric in India With the e-Access
The Suzuki e-Acess is a no-nonsense scooter with 5.5 bhp and a range of just under 60 miles

Suzuki has finally dipped its toes into India’s electric two-wheeler pond, and instead of cannonballing in with some wild sci-fi styling or flashy gimmicks, it’s taken a measured, very Suzuki approach to the move.
Enter the e-Access—the company’s first electric scooter for the Indian market, borrowing a familiar name but wearing an entirely new suit.

Styling-wise, the e-Access doesn’t scream “I’m electric!” and that’s a good thing. You won’t find Tron-style lighting or angular chaos here. Instead, you get a smart, urban-ready scooter that blends a few modern touches with practical bodywork. The vertically stacked LED DRL at the front is tidy, the rectangular headlamp keeps it grown-up, and those turbine-style alloy wheels? Genuinely cool.

Beneath the simple bodywork lies a 60Ah lithium-ion battery, which is said to give the bike a range of 59 miles. The motor delivers just 5.5bhp, although with 11lb ft of torque on offer, performance off the line should be adequate. Recharge times aren’t record-breaking, not at least on a domestic plug, with Suzuki claiming four and a half hours from 0 to 80 per cent, and six hours 42 minutes for a full 0 to 100 per cent fill-up. Faster charging can be had if you use a roadside fast charger, which will shrink the 0 to 80 time to an hour and 12 minutes, and bring the 0 to 100 per cent time down to just over two hours.
Build quality looks to be solid, and overall, for its (expected) Rs. 1,00,000 (£860!) price tag, it could be just the ticket to help take Suzuki into the urban electric sector. Is it revolutionary? No. But does it look ready to calmly crush the urban commute without trying too hard? Absolutely.
